Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, was named "Hot Springs" until in 1950 the city volunteered to rename itself after a radio show, winning the honor of hosting an episode. The 6,000 person town is home to the Virgin Galactic Space Port, which plans to begin its commercial flights to space in 2015.
